The course shall provide students with a firm grounding in the foundational texts of the reproductive justice movement, with particular emphasis on the theoretical and philosophical underpinnings of the movement. The course shall allow students to draw links between the theories of reproductive justice and its relevance to the Indian context. The course shall equip students with the ability to sketch out a unique, intersectional and contextual understanding of reproductive justice, encouraging them to look beyond the physical body as a site of rights, and to the state and society as facilitators of justice. Finally, the course shall expose students to contemporary developments in the structure of the family, as well as advances in reproductive technology that reveal its tensions and myriad contradictions.
