The National Law School of India University (NLSIU), invites applications for a full-time role in the University’s Finance and Accounts Office for a period of one year.

About the Department

The Finance and Accounts team at National Law School of India University manages all aspects of Accounts and Finance.  The department is responsible for daily record keeping and maintaining an accurate history of the University’s financial records.

The Team plays a central role in coordinating with  other functional areas of the University to capture, facilitate, record transactions, create authentic reports, ensure tax and statutory compliances and continuously strengthen internal control processes and systems encompassing all the financial transactions of the University.

The focus of the department is to build an efficient accounting framework that assists the Management in analysis of past and existing trends, effective, informed decision making and optimal utilization of resources to achieve the financial goals of the University.

About the Role

We are looking for a bright and dedicated team member who is willing to learn and collaborate with the team on all aspects of the University accounts. This is a full-time role based out of the NLSIU campus in Bengaluru.

The role includes but is not limited to:

  1. Coordinating with various functions across the University and collecting data required for accounting records.
  2. Accounting the day-to-day transactions related to collections, receivables, procurement, payables and expenses accurately.
  3. Facilitating preparation of green sheets and notes for approval from various authorities.
  4. Liaising with bankers for collection of statements, request for services. Reconciliation of University bank accounts on a weekly basis.
  5. Regularly updating the Vendor and service provider ledgers. Sending payment advice and responding to queries.
  6. Liaising with Statutory, internal and project auditors for various audits. Preparing timely reports as required.
  7. Maintaining memorandum accounts for donations, scholarships, workshops, student events and projects.
  8. Periodical reconciliation of TDS, GST and other statutory compliances.
  9. Updating entries in Fees collection Software and monthly reconciliation of fees dues.
  10. Preparing reports and statements as required from time to time.
  11. Working cohesively with internal and external teams to develop and deliver a reliable and timely accounting framework.

Who Should Apply?

Qualifications

Essential – Bachelor’s degree in commerce/ business administration with minimum of 55% aggregate marks.

Desirable – Master’s degree /CA-Intermediate

Experience

Desirable – 2-5 years of experience in accounting process-oriented roles including preparation of reports and reconciliations.

Skills and competencies

Essential

  • Excellent accounting skills.
  • Strong execution rigor and operational skills.
  • Strong presentation and time management skills.

Desirable

  • Prior experience in the GL/AP/AR activities.
  • Proficient with Tally or other Accounting ERP.
  • Knowledge of Zoho Books

Competencies

  • Ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date records of accounting transactions and statutory reconciliations meticulously.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Presentation.
  • An appreciation for processes and workflows. Must be able to multitask and work well under pressure.
  • Must be able to work effectively and constructively as part of a team.
