Research Methodology is a core course administered to the LL.M. and doctoral students. Acknowledging the diverse backgrounds and anticipated research outputs of the students, the course will serve the dual purpose of providing a foundational understanding of research methods and act as a catalyst for critical thinking on contemporary research areas – a skill that would be indispensable through the length of their programmes. Designed to enhance the research skills of students, this course will place a strong emphasis on class-based discussions, interaction with experts, practical application and hands-on learning. Students will actively engage in activities and exercises that simulate real-world research scenarios, enhancing their critical thinking and research design abilities and academic writing skills. Given the adoption of a flipped classroom approach, the teaching pedagogy will predominantly revolve around discussion. Students are expected to familisarise themselves with all assigned readings prior to class to ensure smooth course delivery. In preparing this course outline I have also drawn on readings from previous iterations of this course administered by Prof. Madhubanthi Sandhya, Prof. Mrinal Satish, Prof. Arul George Scaria and Prof. Sudhir Krishnaswamy and I wish to thank them for the same.
