Survey on Women in Litigation | Women’s Inclusion and Leadership in Law Project at NLSIU

The Women’s Inclusion and Leadership in Law (WILL) Project at NLSIU is conducting a survey on barriers that women lawyers face in litigation practice. The aim of this survey is to identify challenges that women litigators face in their careers, such as sexism, harassment, and other structural barriers. The survey will help in designing and advocating for gender inclusive policies for women lawyers, and hopes to capture crucial insights to advocate for better policies, infrastructure, and support systems.
The survey takes about 10-15 minutes to complete, mostly through multiple choice questions. It has 6 sections covering demographics, career experience, aspirations, working conditions, workplace safety, and perceptions about the profession. All responses will be treated as strictly confidential.
The survey is available in English, Hindi, and Kannada.

About the WILL Project
Starting July 2024, NLSIU has embarked on an ambitious research project on promoting women’s leadership in court-centred legal practice in India.
Through evidence-based research, Women’s Inclusion and Leadership in Law (WILL) seeks to highlight structural barriers hindering women’s participation and growth at different levels. Drawing from the research, the project will design and implement suitable collectivising and empowerment initiatives and engage with stakeholders to foreground systemic reform. These elements are expected to generate conditions for change-making efforts by women lawyers and galvanise a radical change in legal practice, interpretation, and justice delivery, especially for marginal communities.
