This course introduces civil aviation laws, focusing on Indian law. It is structured to address the first principles of aviation law and then delves into areas of the law, discussing academic and regulatory perspectives. Students will design and develop guidelines and agreements as part of a drafting exercise.

Aviation law is unique due to cooperation between countries and the harmonisation of industrial practices. Cooperation and harmony do not eliminate existing conflicts. The course offered is a combination of public and private law. Much aviation trade and regulation are facilitated by intermediaries acting within their delegated powers. Special rules and contracts are standard in the aviation industry, and this course provides an opportunity to engage with them.
