This course, a fundamental component of the LL.B. (Hons.) curriculum mandated by the Bar Council of India, is divided into two parts. Contract I, the first part, serves as a core course designed to illuminate the nuanced legal implications of the term ‘contract’. While ‘contract’ is commonly used in everyday language with little regard for its legal ramifications, this course unveils its dynamic nature within the framework of legal inquiry.

As one of the initial statutory law courses in the 3 Year LL.B (Hons.) program, it provides a platform for exploring foundational legal discussions, particularly in statutory interpretation.

The course offers a comprehensive exploration of the fundamental principles of contract law, with a specific focus on Indian contract law. It introduces students to the laws governing obligations and establishes a foundational understanding of legal liability within contractual relationships. Moreover, the course aims to foster reflective thinking and enhance students’ analytical legal reasoning skills, encouraging them to navigate between doctrinal analysis and practical application of the law.
