This is follows up from the first trimester course on Principles of Economics. It advances
participants to gain a firm understanding on foundational economic theories and models in microeconomics and macro-economics that are applied for a vast range of economic analysis. These
analytical frameworks are used widely in policy designs. The optimization framework of microeconomics is widely used in designing policies and analysing individual-level policy responses.
Policy decisions on taxation, budgetary allocations and fiscal management, monetary policies and
the implications of these policies for the real economy can be understood through macro-economic
theories
