This course delves deeper into the nature and methods of the discipline of history which is taught in one or two modules as part of History I. The object of this course is to take students, interested in the discipline of history, to an understanding of the meaning and practise of history both in the Western and South Asian traditions while simultaneously delving into the nature of the discipline over time in tune with the changing socio-economic and political conditions.
The idea behind this course is to appreciate how the meaning and nature of history has evolved, has changed with the changes in the nature of the society and economy of any country over time. “Those who control the present, control the past and those who control the past, control the future.”
