RM807 | Research Methodology

This course on Research Methods is a mandatory requirement for the LLM and PhD programmes at NLSIU. As cohorts of different ability will take up this course it will be styled as an introduction to the field of Research Methods addressed to all students. Phd students will need to deepen their understanding of particular methods as applicable to their doctoral work.

Any course that seeks to develop skills and dispositions needs to be activity based. Hence, class time will be built around exercises that all students will need to actively participate in. You will be invited to participate and challenged to contribute to the classroom activity – a restless classroom is a key to a successful course. In Covid times, this class will be online till further notice

The ability to read and recognize high quality academic work is an integral part of developing one’s scholarly mind. Hence, students will be encouraged to critically read challenging texts and develop their ability to make novel arguments in their research papers. Intellectual humility and an irrepressible work ethic are the foundations for advancing knowledge in our chosen fields. The course will encourage the development of these dispositions necessary for academic success.
