SOC101 | Sociology I

Sociology-I is a core course. It is intended to acquaint the students with sociology as a social science and its distinct approach among the social sciences. It is organised in such a way that even students without any previous exposure to sociology could acquire an interest in the subject and follow it. To this end emphasis would be laid not only on the substantive themes of study but on perspective.

A combination of lectures and Socratic discussion will be used. Apart from the readings listed below, the lectures would discuss fiction and non-fiction literature, short films, documentaries, and movies. The course has four modules and lectures will be held on Zoom.
