Profile

Akash Gupta is an Assistant Professor and Assistant Director of Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution at Jindal Global Law School, where he specializes in teaching arbitration courses. Additionally, he is a Visiting Faculty at the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, where he teaches his elective course, “Advanced Course in Arbitration: Setting Aside and Enforcement of Arbitral Awards.” He is pursuing a Ph.D. in Arbitration from GD Goenka University, Gurugram, and completed his LL.M. in International Commercial Arbitration Law from Stockholm University, Sweden. His Stockholm University Vis Moot Team qualified for the Top 16 out of 372 teams in the Vis Vienna Moot 2019. Akash graduated with a B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) from Tamil Nadu National Law University, Trichy. Additionally, he has attended prestigious summer and winter schools at the Paris Arbitration Academy and the Hague Academy of International Law, respectively, both on full scholarship and full sponsorship. Recognized for his contributions to the field, Akash was awarded the “Young ADR Academic of the Year” by the Asia Pacific Centre for Arbitration & Mediation in May 2023.

With extensive experience in ADR, Akash has served as a sole arbitrator in 100 disputes involving claims exceeding 7 Crores INR and as a conciliator in 250 disputes with claims totalling over 45 Lacs INR. Akash is a prolific author with 13 publications, including 4 Scopus publications. His research covers a broad spectrum of topics, including sports arbitration, electronic evidence, corporate social responsibility, fertility fraud, consumer ADR, ethical aspects of AI in healthcare, online dispute resolution, and green dispute resolution. His work has been published by prominent publishers such as Sage, Springer, Thomson Reuters and Routledge.

Since joining Jindal Global Law School in August 2019, Akash has not only taught arbitration courses but also held several editorial and advisory positions. He is the Assistant Editor for the Indian Review of International Arbitration (MNLU), a Peer Review Board Member for the Indian Arbitration Law Review (NLIU), and an Advisory Board Member for the RMLNLU Law Review.

In addition to his academic and professional achievements, Akash has actively volunteered as an Arbitrator and Judge in over 100 Moot Court and ADR Competitions, including prestigious ones like Vis, Jessup, FDI, and Stetson. He has also conducted workshops and credit courses on arbitration, mediation, negotiation, mooting, and ADR competitions at more than 50 law schools across India.
