Profile
Arti is a restorative justice practitioner, trainer and researcher. Since 2016, Arti has designed a restorative justice and practice pilot as part of the Counsel to Secure Justice’s (CSJ’s) restorative justice project. Apart from facilitating processes, she has trained police, prosecutors, judges and other child protection stakeholders on restorative justice. Before joining CSJ, Arti worked as a lawyer for children who have been abused, and as a corporate lawyer at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas in the capital markets team. She has also been a member of the European Forum for Restorative Justice’s Values and Standards Committee since 2019.
Arti has taught restorative justice in law schools in India and the US and is currently an Adjunct Professor at the Vermont Law School, USA. She has taught at NALSAR and NLUD and has given guest lectures at Jindal Global Law School, Singapore University of Social Sciences, and the University of Arizona, USA. Her research includes being the Lead Editor of a project on Restorative Justice Around the Globe, published in Restoring Justice (2022).
Research Interests
Arti is passionate about using research to inform best practice implementation. Her research includes being the Lead Editor of a project on Restorative Justice Around the Globe, published in Restoring Justice (2022). She has recently worked on a forthcoming chapter mapping restorative justice in India for the International Encyclopedia of Restorative Justice. In addition, she has written on restorative justice for international publications including the European Forum for Restorative Justice and Restorative Practices International.
