Profile

Akhila has previously taught at Maharashtra National Law University, Mumbai, CHRIST University, Bangalore, Karnataka State Law University, Hubballi, and CMR University, Bangalore. She has also delivered a series of lectures at the Institute of Military Law, New Delhi to the officers attending Judge Advocate Courses.

Her area of interest and research is Public International Law. Her doctoral thesis examines the implementation of international law in the Indian legal system, identifying the patterns of convergence and integration between them.

Akhila has presented many papers at Annual Conventions organised by the International Studies Association, USA with financial awards from ISA and ICSSR. She has co-edited a book on water laws and authored articles on water resource management and law. She has also published articles on Vachanas and the feminist movement, international rule of law, domestic courts and international law, third-world approaches and feminist approaches to international law.
