Profile

She has twenty three years of research experience in women’s health issues and the management of care at the individual and systemic levels. Her specialty is in behavioural health communication with a focus on participatory interventions and promotional strategies that enhance women’s health choices and policies in resource-constrained spaces. Her recent research has been on the management of gynaecological cancers in India and the roles of providers and families in negotiations of care for women seeking care in the health institutions. Kalyani was associated with the Women’s Global Health Imperative (part of University of California, San Francisco initially and Research Triangle Institute, International subsequently) from 2004-2012. She was also part of the faculty at the Azim Premji University at the School of Development (2013-2016). In 2017, She  received a commonwealth research award through the Australian Government’s Research Training Programme, International which has supported her most recent research.
