Alumni Feature | Shubhama Singh, Master’s in Public Policy ‘22

Shubhama studied civil engineering and technology before he joined the Master’s Programme in Public Policy at NLSIU. After training at NLSIU, he aspires to be a political consultant. He wants to help governments and companies navigate the complex world, getting their message across, harnessing political expertise with data-driven analysis that shapes and delivers winning campaigns to influence opinions, policies, and decision-makers at national and local levels. As part of his studies at NLSIU, he has interned with ActionAid India, Praja Foundation, SAFAR, and PHDMA, Odisha. Of these internships, he cherishes the work with SAFAR – Social Accountability Forum for Action and Research. It was an engagement with the government of Karnataka for the digital dialogue for the newly updated Mahiti Kanaja Portal – Public Information Portal, where he engaged with various stakeholders, including government officials and non-governmental organisation representatives. As a student of the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, he has been actively engaged in co-curricular activities around the campus. He has been working as the media editor for Lokniti, a student-run blog. He was also engaged as a member of the Savitri Phule Ambedkar Caravan (SPAC) at the Campus. He has also represented the University in the St. Joseph’s College of Law (SJCL)Climate Action Policy Hackathon 2022 and has secured 4th place. While Shubhama’s interests have grown since joining MPP to encompass urban policy and social transformation, his passion remains ensuring sustainable development and inclusive progress for all, with no one left behind. Following his interest in sustainable development policies, his dissertation focuses on the understanding of policy development around hydropower dam safety in India.
