Call for Applications | Bengaluru Police Training Programme

NLSIU invites applications for roles in its new Training Programme in collaboration with the Bengaluru City Police (BCP). The two-year programme will conduct training for all personnel belonging to the BCP on issues of gender and gender-based violence. It will also include a training and awareness programme for members of the public to address violence against women in public spaces under the “Active Bystander Initiative”. NLSIU will collaborate with civil society organisations in the delivery of these programmes.
- The roles are full-time based out of the NLSIU campus in Bangalore.
- Salaries will be commensurate with experience and sectoral standards.
1. Project Coordinator
Role Description
The Project Coordinator will –
- Help design, and lead the execution of the gender sensitisation training programmes under the guidance of NLSIU faculty and staff.
- Spearhead further hiring of project resources
- Identify and onboard civil society partners
- Finalise training content and training modules with guidance from experts in relevant fields
- Conduct train-the-trainer programmes
- Supervise delivery of training programmes
- Manage feedback and analysis from training delivery
- Coordinate with all stakeholders, including the Bengaluru City Police, civil society organisations, content experts and other groups
- Bear primary responsibility for the quality and timely delivery of the training programmes.
Who should apply?
- LLB degree or graduate degree in the social sciences or humanities.
- At least 7 years of post-qualification experience overall, including at least 4 years of relevant work experience in the project sector (e.g. criminal justice, gender sensitisation, or police training)
- Ability to build and lead a team, and establish effective working relations with a range of stakeholders, including government officials, CSOs and other partners.
- Strong project management skills
- Candidates with experience in designing and executing large-scale training programmes will be preferred.
- Candidates with advanced degrees will be preferred.
2. Training Manager
Role Description
The The Training Manager will –
- Plan and execute the training schedule over the 2 year project
- Coordinate with all relevant stakeholders, including civil society organisations and police personnel in the execution of the training schedule
Who Should Apply?
- LLB degree or graduate degree in the social sciences or humanities.
- 4+ years of post-qualification experience. Candidates with relevant work experience in gender-related training will be preferred
- Experience in working with a variety of stakeholders in the execution of a programme.
- Strong attention to detail and time-management skills.
- Candidates with reading, writing and speaking knowledge of Kannada will be preferred.
- Candidates with advanced degrees will be preferred.
3. Content Lead
Role Description
The Content Lead will –
- Be responsible for overall content development
- Be responsible for design, production and translation of training content
- Gather and incorporate inputs on content from experts in relevant fields
Who should apply
- LLB degree
- 4+ years of post-qualification experience. Candidates with relevant work experience in the project sector (e.g. criminal justice, gender sensitisation, or police training) will be preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and time-management skills.
- Strong reporting and writing abilities.
- Candidates with advanced degrees will be preferred.
4. Project Associates
Role Description
The Project Associate will –
- Assist in content development and execution of the gender sensitisation training programmes under the guidance of the Project Coordinator.
- Assist in identification and onboarding of civil society partners
- Work on training content and training modules with guidance from experts in relevant fields
- Assist in the execution of train-the-trainer programmes
- Assist in delivery of training programmes
Who should apply
- LLB degree or graduate degree in the social sciences or humanities.
- 0-3 years of post-qualification experience. Candidates with relevant work experience in the project sector (e.g. criminal justice, gender sensitisation, or police training) will be preferred.
- Experience in working with a variety of stakeholders in the execution of a programme.
- Strong attention to detail and time-management skills.
- Strong reporting and writing abilities.
- Candidates with reading, writing and speaking knowledge of Kannada will be preferred.
