Call for Applications | Executive – Communications | 02 positions

The National Law School Of India University (NLSIU), invites applications for two full-time roles in the University’s Communications Office for a period of one year (extendable). These positions will be based in the NLSIU campus in Bengaluru.

About the Department

The Communications Office at the National Law School of India University, manages all aspects of internal as well as external communications. The Communications Office – a) works towards the development and implementation of communication campaigns, including outreach, on-campus and off-campus events and social media; b) coordinates with members of the local media and press, as well as (where applicable) other external stakeholders/organizations; c) coordinates and implements communication activities to ensure all academic/research/co-curricular activities are represented in an accurate, relevant and timely manner; d) works towards content creation for various channels of communication.

About the Role

This role will enable the candidate(s) to hone their skills in writing and designing for different media, creating content, organizing and executing communications plans/campaigns, while working with different teams and departments.

This role requires working closely with other colleagues of the Communications Office/team to –

  • Assist with content creation and implementation of communications plans – this will include writing about campus updates/stories, interviewing visitors and dignitaries, designing social media creatives and responding to online queries, etc.
  • Assist with updating data or information on the NLSIU website and social media handles.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for coordinating with relevant departments and stakeholders for all on-campus as well as off-campus events/lectures/seminars, among others. This includes (but is not limited to) sourcing photographs/videos and drafting content for the website.
  • Responsible for developing regular media monitoring as well as social media analytics reports.
  • Supporting all aspects of communication including research and content creation, as well as production and management, presentation and promotion.
  • Monitoring the University’s social media and online presence, and respond to queries (where applicable and after consulting with the Communications team) in a timely manner.
  • Assisting with the development of communications plans for specific projects, including outreach, events, and social media. Provide support in the design and implementation of social media campaigns.
  • Supporting in the development of audiovisual materials (producing and editing videos for various purposes).
  • Design event/program fliers, graphics and other outreach material, as needed.
  • Any other related tasks to support the Communications Office.

Who Should Apply?

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Candidates with an undergraduate/postgraduate degree in Literature,  Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or a related field with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks.
  • Candidates with a working knowledge of website publishing platforms (Content Management Systems) like WordPress.
  • Candidates with a firm grasp of social media tools and platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube.

Desirable:

  • Candidates who are familiar with graphic design and video editing tools will be preferred.

Experience

Essential: Candidates with 0 to 2 years of work experience.

Desirable: Previous internship or related experience in marketing and public relations/communications/newsroom roles, is a plus.

Skills and competencies

Essential:

  • Candidates must have the ability to write and communicate, clearly and concisely.
  • Good computer skills especially in the use of publishing tools, proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Teams) and Google Workspace (e.g., Sheets, Docs, Drive).
  • Candidates with an ability to work within tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Candidates with an ability to think and work logically and work precisely with attention to detail.

Desirable:

  • Excellent planning and prioritization skills.
  • Background in Adobe Creative Cloud will be advantageous but not essential.
  • Creative individual with basic multimedia design skills for posters, videos, and social media.
