NLSIU Has a New Turf Football Field
January 17, 2025
As part of upgrading its core infrastructure, NLSIU’s sports facilities on campus is undergoing a two-phase renovation. Ahead of the new year 2025, we completed Phase I of this project – construction of a turf football field as per FIFA standards. The new field is 71m wide and 110 m long, and the turf has been installed as per FIFA prescribed procedures. The University will begin Phase II of this project in February 2025, with the construction of a retaining wall around the football field and the addition of a six-lane, 400-meter running track.
We thank the various teams who ensured that this work was completed in a timely manner with minimum disruption on campus.
Here are some guidelines to keep in mind for those using the football field:
DOs
- Regular shoes with rubber soles/football turf shoes are permitted. Clean your footwear before getting on to the turf. Report any dirt/debris/damage to staff immediately.
- Protect the turf’s surface from sharp or pointed objects. When goalposts or other equipment is moved, they should be picked up off the turf. Dragging the goal posts damages the turf.
DON’Ts
- Sport shoes with metal studs or spikes of any kind are not allowed on the turf. Any physical damage caused by negligence of the user will be charged to the user.
- No littering on the field. Any waste/rubbish should be disposed off in the bins placed near the field.
- Spitting/chewing gum is not permitted on the turn and will attract a fine of Rs. 1000. The NLS staff are authorised to levy the fine.
- Glass containers are not permitted on the turf premises.
- Consumption of food/liquids other than water is not allowed in and around the play area.
All current NLSIU Rules & Regulations, and guidelines will apply in the sport arena.
