TRANSECT WALK – A Seminar on Urban Decentralisation
July 9, 2019
The Institute of Public Policy is organising ‘Transect Walk – a seminar on Urban Decentralisation’ on July 9, 2019.
First year students of the MPP programme at NLSIU (batch of 2019-21) will be presenting an analysis of the Transect Walks undertaken by them within various subsections of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Ward no. 128 – Nagarabhavi.
Transect Walks are participatory tools through which one gains a grounded understanding about a locality. The key purpose of such walks is “social mapping” by observing the ward and interacting with the residents.
The presentation will throw light on the resources, facilities, diversities and associated problems within the ward, and highlight opportunities therein. Students will be discussing living conditions and civic issues experienced in and around the area along with socio-economic patterns.
