The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) was launched by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (now the Ministry of Education) in September 2015 to rank institutions of higher education across India. The institutes are ranked under various categories such as engineering, management, pharmacy, law, medical, architecture, dental and research. The category of ‘Law’ was added to these rankings in 2018, and since then, NLSIU has consistently maintained the top rank.
