National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Rankings 2023
On June 5, 2023, the Education Ministry released the National Institutional Ranking Framework results for 2023. The law school has retained its No. 1 ranking for law institutions in 2023 for the 6th year in a row! NLSIU Registrar Prof. N.S. Nigam received the award in New Delhi.
The NIRF rankings are based on the five parameters mentioned below. Here is how NLSIU performed on these parameters:
Teaching, Learning & Resources – 79.09
Research & Professional Practice – 71.85
Graduation Outcome – 82.99
Outreach & Inclusivity – 73.58
Perception – 100.00
EducationWorld India Higher Education Rankings 2023-24
NLSIU was ranked #1 in India in the EducationWorld Rankings in the following categories:
- The BA. LLB (Hons) course in the EducationWorld India Higher Education Rankings 2023-24
- India’s #1 Government Law and Humanities University in the EducationWorld India Higher Education Rankings 2023-24
- Top 10 higher education institutions that provide the most popular bachelor’s degree programmes
The survey was conducted by the Delhi-based Centre for Research & Forecasting (C fore estb. 2000) – a market research and opinion poll company – which interviewed 1,018 faculty members and professionals across the country. The rankings are based on perception scores under six parameters of higher education excellence, including infrastructure, placements, faculty competence, curriculum & pedagogy (digital readiness), faculty welfare and development and leadership.
India Today Best Colleges Award 2023
NLSIU Bengaluru was recently awarded the India Today Best Colleges Award 2023. The University’s Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Sudhir Krishnaswamy received the award in the Law category from Shri. Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister for Education and Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, at the India Today Best Colleges Awards 2023 function in New Delhi on July 21, 2023.
The VC also participated in a Principals’ Roundtable discussion on the theme “How to Foster Excellence in Colleges” at the India Today Conclave.
Outlook-ICARE Rankings 2023: Top 13 Government Law Institutes
NLSIU, Bengaluru was ranked #1 in the Outlook-ICARE Rankings 2023: Top 13 Government Law Institutes. These rankings were based on the following parameters:

OPEN Magazine Best Colleges 2023: State-Wise Rankings
OPEN Magazine has ranked NLSIU, Bengaluru as the top Government Law College in Karnataka in its 2023 rankings. The survey has ranked institutions region-wise and under public/private categories. The rankings cover various educational domains including Arts, Science, Commerce, Engineering, Medical, Dental, Law, Fashion, etc.
NLSIU secured a total score of 995.6 based on the following parameters:
