Prior to joining NLSIU, Huma served as a fellow at the East-West Center in Hawaii, USA, where she delved into International Law with a specific emphasis on the Asia-Pacific region. Additionally, as a member of the ‘Youth Advisory Board’ at the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, United Nations, Geneva, she conducted extensive interdisciplinary research and policy analysis on international human rights mechanisms, contributing significantly to the development of the Youth Rights Advocacy toolkit. Huma holds an undergraduate degree in Law from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, and completed her LLM at the University of Bristol, UK, with a focus on International Law and Conflict Resolution.
Areas of interest: Her research interests revolve around International Law, Indigenous Rights, and the intersection of Gender Justice and Environmental Law, with a keen awareness of the interplay between environmental degradation and gender inequality.
Outside of work, she loves hiking, traveling, and giving back to her community.
